Day 2 - Excelsior, MN to Bristol, SD
Day 2 took us from my cousin Susan's to my cousin Barb's. We used to see each other as kids at family reunions (really our parents are cousins), but we lost touch for many years. We reconnected over the last decade or so and we are doing our best to connect more regularly. Barb and her family made their first trip to Ontonagon last Spring and loved it! They look forward to coming back and exploring the Porcupine Mountains and rockhounding along the shores of Lake Superior at Mountain View Lodges!
The trip was white-knuckle driving as the winds were 25-50 mph. Brrrrr
It was our turn to go their way. They have a wonderful 130 year-old home in Bristol. They have lived here for over 30 years. It is always fun to catch up. It turns out that all three of us have kids about the same age. In fact, Susan, Barb and I were all expecting our youngest at the same time and didn't know it.
We all miss being in a position to have these types of reunions. But we are all spread out so far, have our families who are spread all over and it is hard to "wrangle that many cats".
So I feel blessed to be able to spend this time reconnecting with my family.
Barb loves to Rockhound and has a wonderful collection of stones and shells. So, Rick was in his glory admiring her collection.
The next part our our journey is yet to be determined...
Just some sights from the Roadtrek window. We stop at the end of each day to fill up the tank so we can just hit the road in the morning. There are so many HUGE boulders just in landscape. It is cold and early but we can see how beautiful this State will be when Spring finally arrives!
